THE BLOCK UNIVERSE
(OR SO IT GOES)

Nominated Best Independent Production
Sydney Theatre Awards 2016

Inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s satirical novel, Slaughterhouse Five and the writings of Alaine de Botton, Alan Watts and H.G Wells among others, THE BLOCK UNIVERSE (OR SO IT GOES) is an attempt to bring a different experience of time to the stage. It exists somewhere between a curious romantic comedy, a religionless morality tale and a philosophical treatise as it playfully observes the coupling of two misfits – Andrew and Kristiina. Their relationship is revealed as it exists according to the theory of the Block Universe; in non-sequential exposures of life’s defining moments.
